Under the Radar starts in Brisbane

Tonight was the first night of Under the Radar, Brisbane's fringe festival. i managed to see several things tonight, all varied, and the one that i am dreaming of right now, at midnight, is visual artist Melody Woodnutt's  pods...they were superb...as i walked outside Metro Arts  i spied a big red pod with a soft cushion on it. after some encouraging i sat on it, and placed the earphones on my head. i was then gestured to look up, and as i listened to a  deliciously alive sound scape i saw bubbles, hundreds of bubbles escape from another pod above me, as images of the city ran across it...now it is almost impossible to feel depressed when you look up, and even more impossible to feel sad when confronted with thousands of little bubbles running down the street...Melody, you did a beautiful thing tonight...you brought joy to many people.  if you wanted, you could choose a darker soundscape which lay next to the red pod, but i decided to leave that till the next time. i wanted to bounce away, just like those bubbles.Melody Woodnutt's work will appear in different locations throughout Brisbane. i urge you to search her out...i was enchanted.
