Acting Training: a letter to those who are interested in expanding their potential

Hello, many of you have contacted me regarding acting training and i am about to begin a new class end of October.10-1pm Acting for TherapistsIf you are a counsellor, therapist or psychologist (or a Masters student) you will find this training an enriching process.  We will focus on awakening the performative self, so that you are more aware of your voice, your body and your ability to follow (read 'improvise with') your client.  If therapy is seen as an artform rather than a science, it is an important part of the process to enliven the therapist: without enthusiasm from the therapist how can we gain enthusiasm and change from our client?  “We should remember that there is no creativity in the child if there is no creativity in the adult" and  "The competent and creative child exists if there is a competent and creative adult” (Carla Rinaldi in Gandini et al, 2005, p. 172). I believe this is also true when working with adults.  If we do not model a creative practice, how can we expect our clients to create new and more useful stories? The training is Saturday mornings for five weeks.    I will be hosting you at Pullenvale, a relaxed rural setting, where we will work for three hours on creative processes that will enhance not only your practice but also your personal lives.Cost: $325.00If paid before class begins $285.00.Payment schemes available as usual. Please send me an email on 4change@iinet.net.au and register your interest. Our first meeting is October 30, 2010.
