As I prepare for our Zoom workshop series late February 2021…

Our Zoom workshops in February/March are for experimenting, using multi-modal art processes to access “what we don’t know we know” before we write the play that is writing us.

Our writing workshops expand our time in the present, and we engage with Dr Jean Houston’s creative technique of pushing away the future and the past, leaving infinite time to create.

I create and recreate workshops. Its what I do. It is rare that I will repeat the same workshop. I morph and grow them depending on the group I am designing for. I have just finished five months of online workshops, working with some sensational artists and artist researchers who rediscovered their creative practice by participating collaboratively, growing each other’s stories as we experimented with techniques I have borrowed and adapted from performance making, creative arts, narrative practice, solution focused therapy and collaborative frameworks. Unless I am enthused, empowered and excited out of my skin, I cannot conduct a workshop. Unless my practice grows me in some capacity, I cannot conduct a workshop. Every time I participate in my workshops, I feel like I am risking failure. But it is worth taking that risk, because in doing so, the group takes charge, confident that their contribution is valued.

I am on a break now from workshops, but I cannot stay away from my research. Presently I have a three dozen books surrounding my chair, sitting on the back verandah, dreaming-on our writing Zoom workshops. I can’t wait to risk, and share the plans with you. I have expanded the workshop series, not in size of workshop, but in number of workshops, so there are still a couple of places available. Let me know if you are interested. It doesn’t matter if you live in UK, New Zealand or Canada, wherever you are, you can participate if you want to. Warmest, Margi
