Workshops for Artists and those who want more creativity in their lives
It’s time for change…our Australian arts industry has experienced what can only be described as shockwaves…our value as artists within the wider community has been somewhat questioned, our choice of vocation has come into doubt, and we are presently floating, not knowing where we will land.
This is a most potent place to be, a liminal space, a place of potential and possibility. This is a time of coming together, not just with friends, but with friends-to-be, people you may not know yet. We thicken our arts community one friendship at a time and the thicker our community, the more chance there is to thrive and prosper.
For the first four months of COVID I offered free Chai’nChats, Zoom sessions where we drank chai together and unpacked conversations so that we could begin to see things from multiple perspectives, and at the same time recognise our own strengths. Although these sessions have ended for now, I am still keen to work within the community in a way that artists can afford. Having been in the theatre industry for four decades, I undestand the need for workshops to not only embrace excellence, but be very affordable, particularly in this present climate. I offer you the opportunity to work with me for four weeks, and in those four weeks, you will get to know four other artists, perhaps people you have always wanted to get to know, yet have not had the opportunity.
My classes are small. I believe that the smaller the class, the greater the impact. My COVID classes are limited to four people. This way you get to know-not only know each other- but you have the opportunity to grow each other’s ideas. Personally, I find large Zoom classes within the arts sector reasonably unsatisfactory because I remain an individual rather than creating community. Workshops are not just about expertise. They are, more importantly, about relationship. We are relational beings after all and together we can achieve miracles.
I invite you to participate in these experiental workshops based on my Rituals of Practice: one of the outcomes of my PhD. You will learn ways of being in the world that not only protect you, but grow you into your potential. These classes are limited to artists, and others who want more creativity in their lives. They are embodied workshops, incorporating visual art making, philosophical deconstructions, creative writing and meditation.
These workshops are priced for artists, those who may not have an income at the moment, who have lost their jobs over COVID19 and feel the need to reconnect and reenchant their artistry, so they are ready for change. For artists, these workshops will cost $25.00 each, though it is highly encouraged to participate in the package of four sessions at $90.00.
Workshops begin September 21, 2020. They will be held once a week on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. Morning, afternoon or evening, to be decided by the group. Please text me on 0410515637 to register interest. I cannnot wait to host you.
